EuroMillions Record Win
The EuroMillions lottery has set yet another record for the biggest ever National Lottery win in the United Kingdom after a single ticket scooped the €129,818,431 jackpot (that converts to £113,019,926 for the winner concerned) on Friday 8 October. The highest ever UK lottery jackpot win prior to Friday’s draw was set in May 2010 and was worth £84.4 million, so the new record is almost £30 million higher. Of course, how long this new record will stand for remains to be seen.
We don’t yet know if this latest EuroMillions jackpot was won by a syndicate of players or by one very lucky individual. However, if it transpires that the winner is an individual then he or she is now one of the richest people in the UK, having even more wealth than big name celebrities such as David Bowie and Rod Stewart.
The EuroMillions results which made the record win possible were 09, 30, 35, 39 and 46, and the Lucky Stars were 06 and 08. More than 3.5 million EuroMillions prizes were won in total, so there will be plenty of players who will be grateful that they participated in the game last week. Nine players who missed out on a share of the jackpot because they matched all five main numbers but only managed to match one of the two Lucky Star numbers were each consoled with a second tier prize worth €766,168 (£521,015). That wasn’t enough to give them millionaire status, but it does make it possible for the players involved to enjoy a far greater level of financial freedom than they would have had prior to the draw on Friday night.
Last week’s monster jackpot was made possible thanks to a Mega Jackpot that had rolled over once, so we won’t see another EuroMillions jackpot of a similar size unless we have several consecutive rollovers or until the next Mega Jackpot comes along. Of course, the base jackpot in the EuroMillions game is never worth less than €15 million, so there is always a life-changing prize to play for regardless of what may or may not have happened in previous draws.
If you participated in the EuroMillions game on Friday 8 October then check your lottery tickets if you haven’t done so already. Then, whether you won a prize or not, why not play EuroMillions online for the next draw? The next big winner could be you!
