Two Share Jackpot
Two lottery players – one in Britain and one in Ireland – won the EuroMillions jackpot on Friday 12 June, 2009. The British player has been named as 73 year old Brian Caswell, but the winner in Ireland is not yet known. Both winners will share the triple rollover jackpot of almost £50 million equally, which makes them both £24.9 million richer!
Brian Caswell lives in Halliwell near Bolton. He is a keen gardener and just a day after collecting the cheque for his massive win, he was back to his vegetables in his allotment. He is married to Joan, who is 71, and the couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Brian is planning to spend some of his EuroMillions fortune on ‘a flash car’ and a trip to Rio in Brazil. That’s a great start, but it will hardly make a dent in what is the third biggest lottery win in the UK. The biggest UK win was achieved by Angela Kelly, a EuroMillions player who won £35.4 million in August 2007.
The winner in Ireland has not yet come forward, and they have 180 from the date of the draw to make their claim. If they miss that deadline, their £24.9 million share of the EuroMillions jackpot will be added to the fund for Good Causes. That would be good news for the Good Causes, but not so good news for the person who managed to get the perfect set of EuroMillions results by matching all five numbers and both Lucky Stars!
