Couple warn others about Euro Millions scam

A couple warn others about a Euro Millions scam this week after almost falling for a postal scam telling them they had won half a million. Rodney and Lynn Mann, from Cheshire play the Euro Millions Lottery every week, so you can imagine their excitement at thinking they had won £500,000.

The couple received a letter last week from a company called Euro Million Lottery International, telling them they had won £500,000 on the Euro Millions Lottery. The letter was signed by Kelly Royce and told the couple they were the lucky winners of a draw on 13/11/10. However, the letter said that they were receiving the cash due to a mix-up in lottery winners a few weeks before.

Understandably, by the time Rodney Mann came home from work, he found his wife in a serious state of excitement. However, upon looking at the letter himself, it became clear to him that the letter was sent as part of a lottery scam. He said this was because the letter said that Mrs Mann had been chosen by a computer ballot, something he knew wasn’t in the standard of the Euro Millions Lottery. There was also a section for filling in bank details, and this is when alarm bells started ringing.

Like Mr Mann, if you receive one of these lottery scam letters through the post, then be assured it is a scam, the National Lottery will never contact you via the post in this way and you would certainly never be asked for your bank details.

Finally, don’t forget our number one rule to lottery scams, if something seems too good to be true, then it probably is!
