EuroMillions Keeps Getting Bigger
The EuroMillions jackpot just keeps getting bigger, and the top prize at the time of writing (for the draw on Friday 9 September) stands at around £126 million (around €146 million). Regular players will know that this sum has been reached thanks to eleven consecutive rollovers, and literally everyone who plays the game is now wondering whether EuroMillions will make it twelve from twelve in the rollover department or whether someone will finally win the jackpot and secure a lifetime of financial freedom as a result.
Predicting whether or not the jackpot will be won is impossible, so we won’t even try. What we will say is that even if the jackpot rolls yet again it is a certainty that millions will be paid out to players in the form of consolation prizes. The odds of any ticket winning any prize are 1 in 13, so you don’t need to be a maths whiz to figure out that high ticket sales will result in a high number of EuroMillions prizes being won.
In the previous EuroMillions draw on Tuesday 6 September the total number of EuroMillions prizes won was 2,397,731. The second-tier prize was worth £196,606 (€294,499) and six players won that sum by matching all five main numbers (35, 42, 47, 48 and 50) and one Lucky Star (08 or 09). Ten players won £39,321 (€58,900) each for matching five main numbers only. All of the other prize winners picked up smaller sums of up to £2,621 (€3,927) each for matching fewer main numbers, with or without one or two Lucky Stars.
When you remember that every ticket you buy has a 1 in 13 chance of winning a consolation prize such as any of the ones detailed a moment ago, whether or not the jackpot is won this week, next week or at some other point in the future shouldn’t be an issue. Every ticket you buy online has a very fair chance of winning a prize of some sort and yes, that includes the £126 million jackpot that is currently up for grabs.
Enjoy the game and good luck!
