EuroMillions Split Two Ways

The €129 million EuroMillions jackpot on Friday 12 February was won by two tickets, one in Spain and one in the UK. This gave each winner a prize of €64.5 million (around £56 million), which is more than three times the usual minimum jackpot level of €15 million. The huge jackpot was generated thanks to a Mega Jackpot game on Friday 5 February that resulted in a rollover.

None of the winners had been named at the time of this news release being published, but we can tell you that the winning ticket in the UK is thought to have been purchased by a couple from Cirencester in Gloucester. If this is the case, and the ticket was not purchased by a syndicate, it will be the biggest National Lottery prize ever won by an individual player in the UK.

Some news reports in the UK are suggesting that the winning ticket in Spain might also belong to a Brit, because the town in which the ticket was purchased has a high population of British expats. Of course, whether that particular suggestion turns out to be accurate or not remains to be seen.

What we can say right now with no doubt whatsoever is that EuroMillions is just as popular as it has ever been. Although the EuroMillions game is now six years old (the first draw was held on Friday 13 February 2004) players have just as much enthusiasm for winning the jackpot as they did in the very beginning, and rightly so.

The jackpot for the next EuroMillions draw on Friday 19 February has now been reset, so players have €15 million (around £13 million) to play for. That might not be quite as exciting as playing for a jackpot of €129 million, but it is certainly enough to give someone more financial freedom than most people dream of. Play EuroMillions online today and that financial freedom could be yours!
